Since setting it to manual mode, with the same target of 60 FPS, I haven't seen that happen since.Īnd since turning down the other settings, it's staying at a reasonably high resolution now. I also found that having the scaler set to "v-sync based" rather than "manual" would sometimes fail to work correctly, and dropped my frame rate to the mid-40s with 100% GPU utilization. Performance mode seems to target ~90% GPU utilization, which seems like a pretty good way of handling it - though I do notice it pumping the resolution in places rather than settling on a fixed value. I ended up turning everything but texture quality and Sun Shadows/RTAO Quality down to low last night, because I didn't want to troubleshoot every setting and the game was dropping to extremely low resolutions at 4K on my 3060 Ti.īut I had also edited the config so the minimum resolution scale at 4K was 33% rather than 50%, to ensure that the frame rate stays locked to 60 at all times rather than lowering my output resolution to 1440p. (also Arkham Knight really hurt me, only game I ever refunded and was my last pre-order)Ĭlick to shrink.Huh, I'll have to try that. I basically never pre-order a game, always check for issues on and around launch and always check PCGamingWiki whenever I get or start a new game on PC and this has kept me from running into these situations. PC gaming at least offers more options when issues do occur (not alway possible of course) How many times has SpecialK fixed a games stuttering or framepacing issues? Or have Bethesda games been fixed by the unofficial patches.

Mostly this exact thing is what keeps me from console gaming, as I then would be solely dependent on a patch from the developer, but on PC modders/people-infinitely-more-clever-than-I can create mods or tools to improve these issues, circumvent them or fix them outright. Certainly helps if some outlets have already done a deepdive of settings or performance (Like DF or Hardware Unboxed do). I only start paying attention when (performance) issues occur regardless of resolution/settings or seem unrelated to hardware (like bugs and features/stuff not working). Mostly PC gaming comes down to correctly setting settings to your hardware and this is why I hate it when people scream "UNOPTIMIZED" when trying to run ultra settings meant for future hw, while also wanting to run it at 8k 240hz. And the gamepad is just not an option, it feels the same as it did in DH2.Ĭlick to shrink.Tbf, most PC games run fine at launch and it's quite rare to have to fiddle with settings to an extent like this. I played an hour on PC, and i just gave up for now. I feel like Deathloop is the same kind of game. Once you master the powers and movement in DH2, the game becomes so fast paced and rythmic.

Seriously I played through the game twice in a row on PC, and my 2nd run was basically full sprint, killing everything without detection. Then I picked it up on PC, and the stutters were annoying but had SO MUCH MORE fun. I was constantly fighting the controls and not the game. I mean, yeah it was nice looking and all, but I made it to halfway into the game but it didn't click for me.
In fact, it was my first game for the PS4 pro which came out at that time. When DH2 pc port turned out to be a mess, I got DH2 for PS4.
I simply cannot play dishonored and this on a gamepad.
